He was sworn into office by the Mayor on August 1, 2011. Robert's great grandfather, Charles Harry Jenkins moved to San Bernardino in 1922 to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. Robert's grandfather and father also worked at the Santa Fe Railroad in San Bernardino. Robert is a Special Education Teacher who works with High School Students with Disabilities. Robert has worked for Riverside County Office of Education since February of 2004. Robert is active with the Best Buddies Club, an organization that builds relationships between Special Education students and their peers in General Education. Robert graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Political Science from California Baptist University, located within the Inland Empire. While at California Baptist University, Robert served two terms as Student Body President. Robert received his Special Education Teaching Credential from California State University, San Bernardino. As well as his involvement as an elected City Official, Robert Jenkins is active within his community and neighborhood. Robert continues to serve as President of the Perris Hill Neighborhood Association, a member of the Neighborhood Cluster Association in San Bernardino. Before being elected, Robert represented the 2nd Ward on the Measure 'Z' Citizen's Oversight Committee and the Board of Building Commissioners. |
