Ms. Carolyn Tillman, Vice President

Carolyn Tillman is a Special Assistant to Dr. Gary Thomas, Superintendent of San Bernardino County Schools.  In addition to representing the County Superintendent in both public and private forums, Carolyn serves as the Program Coordinator for the, Network for a Healthy California, nutrition grant and Regional Coordinator for the California Department of Education's, Safe Schools Program.  She also provides management support to the Foster Youth Services initiative, the Alliance For Education, Parent Involvement and Literacy Taskforce and the Call To Action, Dropout Prevention Parent Involvement Committee.  During her tenure at County Schools, she has provided leadership for several projects including, the LEA Medi-Cal Technical Assistance Project, the Healthy Start Program and the San Bernardino Countywide Gangs and Drugs Taskforce.   Prior to her work at County Schools, Carolyn was employed with Loma Linda University Medical Center, The March of Dimes and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health.  Carolyn earned a degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology from Loma Linda University, La Sierra.

Carolyn has enjoyed a lifetime of volunteer service.  She has volunteered as a judge for the annual San Bernardino Citywide Black History Bee, sponsored by the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., she facilitates, "Speed Mentoring" exercises for various groups including the San Bernardino County African-American Employees Association, (SBCAAEA).  She currently serves as a Trustee to the San Bernardino City Library Board and is a founding member of the San Bernardino Arrowhead United Way, Women's Leadership Council.  She has served on The San Bernardino County Women's Network Board as the Director of the Mentoring Program and as the Director of Programs.  She has served on the San Bernardino Community Scholarship Board and the American Cancer Society Board, San Bernardino Chapter.  She is a lifetime member and past president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Inland Empire Section.  She is a Sunday-School teacher and a co-chair of the Scholarship Ministry at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in San Bernardino.  She is the mother of three children; Steven Williams, Eva and Denise Tillman.
