The "2017 INLAND EMPIRE SENIOR GAMES", is sponsored by the San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department: Senior Services and the Fontana Community Senior Center.
The San Bernardino Senior Games, as it was formerly known, began in 1987 with a partnership between San Bernardino Community Hospital, San Bernardino Valley College, and the City of San Bernardino. We invite seniors from all over to come and participate in various sports such as tennis, swimming, a 5k/10k walk or run, horseshoes, billiards, bowling, basketball and golf and have over 100 guests attending the Opening and Closing Ceremonies held at the City of San Bernardino Senior Centers.
"OLLIE MCDONALD SENIOR TALENT SHOWCASE"
Ollie McDonald, in whose memory this show is dedicated, was gifted with a magnificent tenor voice. Although he never gained fame or fortune from his gift, he volunteered his talent to many events, brightening the lives of those who heard him sing. He shared his talent by singing the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Special Olympics, performing at the San Bernardino Fifth Street Senior Center Fashion Show Extravaganza, participating in the national Very Special Arts Fair, volunteering at the City Cultural Center, and helping people in general. In 1944, Ollie auditioned for the National Grand Opera winning first place out of a field of 5,000. Later he was a stand-in singer for Lawrence Tibett of the National Opera. In 1988, Ollie McDonald Senior Talent Showcase was born.
So, you think you’ve got TALENT? PROVE IT!! Auditions for the 30th Anniversary Ollie McDonald Senior Talent Showcase. All vocalists, dancers, and actors 55 years and better are welcome. Auditions will be held on Thursday and Friday, December 7th and 8, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm only, at the Perris Hill Senior Center, located at 780 East 21st Street, San Bernardino. An audition does not necessarily guarantee selection for the Showcase. Bring your own music on CD format. You will need four pieces of the music for the song or dance you are performing, with two upbeat selections and two slow tempo selections.
