Intersection Traffic Enforcement: I-215 from Orange Show Rd-Highland Ave

Traffic Sergeant Brett Birnbaum announces that the San Bernardino Police Department conducted an Intersection Traffic Enforcement Detail on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM focusing on specific areas of the City which have had a high incidence of intersection collisions and traffic complaints. Officers focused their efforts in the areas of Interstate 215 from Orange Show Road to Highland Avenue where freeway construction has affected traffic and at the intersection of 30th Street and E Street.
During this detail, 47 vehicles were stopped, 42 people were issued citations, 1 person was taken into custody for a non-DUI offense, 6 people were issued citations for driving on a suspended or revoked license, and 4 citations were issued to drivers who never had a license. 9 vehicles were impounded with 5 of those being impounded for 30 days.
This program was part of San Bernardino Police Departments' ongoing efforts to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in traffic collisions.
Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
