Government Facilities

What are Government Facilities in the City of San Bernardino doing to reduce waste and prevent pollution in their operations?

City Office Recycling
City offices established a building-wide office paper recycling program in 1995. Various sizes and shapes of blue collection containers are provided by the Public Works Department for desk side and common areas such as copier and mail rooms. Acceptable materials include all reasonably clean and dry paper products and cardboard. Beverage and food containers are restricted to minimize contamination to keep the containers clean. City office employees are responsible for emptying the contents of their recycling containers into the larger containers in the common areas, and the Facilities Department custodial staff wheel out these containers when they are full to a 3CY bin dedicated for commingled recyclables. Approximately 9CY of loose mixed materials are diverted each week from City Offices.
