COVID-19 WARNING

Ø The Danger of Exposure to the Coronavirus that Causes COVID-19 Exists.

Ø By Entering the Pool, You Take Responsibility for Your Own   Protection and for Disinfecting Your Hands and Anything You Touch in the Pool Area.

Ø Do Not Use the Pool if You Have a Cough, Fever (100°F or Above) or Other Symptoms of Illness.

Ø Maintain at Least 6 Feet Between You and Other People Who Are Not a Part of Your Household.

Ø Wear a Face Covering Upon Entry into Facility and When You Are Not in the Swimming Pool.

Ø Health Regulations Require Swim Suits With Liner Be Worn Upon Entry into Facility and into Water (No Undergarments).

Ø Changing Rooms and Inside Showers Are Closed.

Ø Restrooms May Be Accessed From the Deck-Side Only.


Swim Guidelines for ALL POOLS (NO EXCEPTIONS)
  • Health Regulations require that everyone entering the swim center and pool MUST be wearing a swim suit with liner NOT undergarments, upon entry into water
  • NO cutoff shorts
  • NO long shorts below the knee
  • NO diapers of any kind allowed in the main pool. Swim diapers are required in the wading pool and rain forest for non-toilet trained youth.
  • NO gang attire
  • Women MUST wear swim apparel, not undergarments (Click here for "Bathing Suit Requirements)

SWIM EXPERIENCE LEVELS:
*Fish:
For children ages 3 to 5 years with NO previous pool experience. Emphasis is on water adjustment and pool safety.

*Starfish:
For children ages 3 to 5 years with previous pool experience. Emphasis is on body positioning, kicking and breathing skills.

*Shark:
For children ages 3 to 5 years with experience and advanced skills. Emphasis is on beginning stroke work, front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke.

*Beginner: (Level I)
For children ages 6 years and older. Entry level class. Emphasis is on elementary aquatic skills, good attitudes and safe practices around the water.

Advanced Beginner: (Level II)
For children ages 6 years and older who have completed or demonstrated beginner skills. Emphasis is on front glide, rotary breathing, and beginning stroke work.

Intermediate: (Level III)
These classes are for children ages 6 years and older who have completed or demonstrated Level II skills. Emphasis is on endurance in familiar strokes, front crawl, back crawl, and introduction to breaststroke and sidestroke.

Advanced:
For children ages 6 years and older who have completed or demonstrated Level III skills. Emphasis is on increased endurance in familiar strokes, front crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, and endurance.

*THIS CLASS IS TAUGHT IN TANDEM WITH A SAME HOUSEHOLD PARENT OR GUARDIAN 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER IN SWIMSUIT


Community Center Swimming Pool Facilities

CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 8 YEARS AND THOSE WHO CANNOT SWIM  MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Community Center Pool Hours / Fees / Swim Schedule:
Recreational swimming at Community Center pools will be available daily, Monday through Saturday, beginning June 17 - July 31, 2021 and on Saturday/Sunday weekends only in August, starting August 7th (per life-saving staff availability)  (schedule & locations subject to change) .

**Scholarship registration available for youth swim lessons taught at the Rudy C. Hernandez Community Center, Ruben Campos Community Center, and Delmann Heights Community Center. For more information please call each respective pool location.

Aquatics Training & Certification Classes:
Water Safety Today
This American Red Cross course will provide information about various aquatic environments and inform the general public on how to safely participate in aquatic activities. There is no swim test, swimming or written exam in this course. Course may meet the requirements for group homes, foster homes and adopting parents who own a pool or plan to take organized groups on supervised outings. This is a one day course on Tuesdays ONLY. MUST HAVE 4 PRE-REGISTERED STUDENTS TO AVOID CANCELLATION OF CLASS. For fees and registration information please call (909) 384-5233.

Lifeguard Training Certification
To Register: 1) Place your name on interest list; 2) Attend a pre-course swim test to qualify as a candidate for training 3) Upon successful completion of the swim test, make two payments to PRCSD (Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department); one to the Parks and Recreation Department for $125.00 (Resident) or $137.50 (Non-resident) registration (students of the San Bernardino City Unified School District may discount this cost) and one in the form of a money order or cashier's check for $36.00 for the Authorized Provider fee. 4) Attend ALL in and out of water training classes. Successful completion of this course will result in the certification required for lifeguarding at swimming pools in the State of California. This Red Cross course will provide training in lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid. You must be at least 15 years or older to participate in the class. There must be a minimum of 4 pre-registered students on the Wednesday before your class to avoid CANCELLATION. For fees and registration information please call (909) 384-5233.

All Swim Tests are conducted at the San Gorgonio High School Pool at 5:00 p.m.  Bring swimsuit and towel (no goggles allowed).

Jr. Lifeguard Program
The Jr. Lifeguard program is a 2-week program. The American Red Cross GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow program it is designed to guide youth ages 11-15 years to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills for future lifeguards. This foundation consists of five categories: Prevention, Fitness, Response, Leadership, and Professionalism. It is an effective transition from upper-level learn-to-swim courses to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program. The Program is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Successful completion of this course certifies you as a Water Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross Health and Safety Services Program.  You must be at least 16 yrs. of age. Must have six (6) pre-registered students by May 9th to avoid cancellation of class. Must successfully complete American Red Cross (ARC) on-line session.

Cost:      $150.00 Resident/$160.00 Non-Resident ($36.00 on-line fee to ARC)

Twinges in the Hinges Swim  (Adults and Seniors)
This class if for adults with or without physical disabilities, senior citizens and their friends. In involves gentle stretching in the water, aquatic exercise, and socialization. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:45pm-4:45pm.

Water Babies
Is a program of water adjustment and beginning swim skills for infants ages 6 months to 4 years. Each child must be accompanied by a parent. Children with disabilities and children without disabilities are encouraged to participate. There are 3 two-week sessions, beginning in June through the end of July.
