How To Become a Volunteer

Becoming a volunteer is a simple three-step process:

  1. Submit an Application CLICK HERE FOR VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

  2. Attend an Orientation Join us for an orientation session! We host orientations once a month, which can be attended either through a Zoom meeting or in person at the shelter. In-person orientations last approximately an hour, while virtual meetings are about 40 minutes. During the session, we'll introduce you to our shelter's mission and our Volunteer Program. We will also provide a tour of the shelter for those attending the orientation online by appointment. For in-person orientations, please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes for your safety and wait by the bench near the front office upon arrival. The orientation will take place in the office trailer behind the chain-linked gate.

  3. Complete a Background Check After attending orientation, we'll schedule an appointment for your background check. Once you're cleared, we'll notify you, and you can start volunteering! 🎉
