The Feldheym Central Library will host “A Cat And A Hat and Green Eggs And Ham” Magic Show on Thursday, February 20, 2020 as an early celebration for Dr. Seuss’s birthday and NEA's Read Across America Day, which celebrates the joys of reading.
This special story time will be held at 10:30 AM in the Bing Wong Auditorium at the Feldheym Central Library, 555 W. 6th Street in San Bernardino.
In A Cat and A Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, Full Spectrum Educational Services will present magic routines that evolve around Dr. Seuss books and characters. In one routine, one Red Fish and one Blue Fish each magically become Two Fish. In another, the audience will assist in finding the hidden Seuss character. Richard shows a wacky Seuss-i-cal invention to get rid of messy sticky Oobleck, and transforms Mullberry Street into Horton the Elephant. Dr. Seuss's words will literally fly right out of a book! The routines will be light and fun, with a lot of comedy and a lot of audience participation.
National Education Association (NEA) launched the first NEA's Read Across America Day in 1998 as a way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss, by encouraging children to read and encouraging adults to spend time reading with their children. More than 45 million readers across the country, both young and old will be celebrating the annual Read Across America Day this year.
A child's ability to read has a direct effect on their future success. Reading with your child helps to increase their vocabulary and improves their reading fluency and comprehension.
