Senior Companions are volunteers aged 55 and over who make a difference by providing assistance and friendship to adults with special needs. Senior Companions help these adults remain independent in their homes instead of having to move to more costly institutional care. Senior Companions give families or professional caregivers time off from their duties, run errands, and often provide friendship for their clients.  Senior Companion Volunteers have a regularly, weekly day schedule with each client.

  •  Senior Companions offer adults with special needs contact with the world outside of their homes, making their lives less isolated. Along the way, Senior Companions find out that few things feel as good as knowing they are needed.
  • Among other activities, they provide friendship and companionship; assist with running basic errands; accompany clients to social activities; alert doctor and family members to potential problems and provide respite to family caregivers.
  • Those who meet certain income guidelines receive a small stipend. All SCP volunteers receive accident and liability insurance and meals while on duty, reimbursement for transportation, and monthly training.

Senior Companions are a vital resource to their communities. Become a Senior Companion today. This is a friendship that can last a lifetime!
